The first twin engine wide body Airbus A300 with a seating capacity of 250 seats was introduced in the year 1974. Airbus was designed using advanced technologies. To begin with Airbus used two RB207 Rolls Royce engines. The diameter of airbus A300 was 5.64 meters and could accommodate 6 seats each row in First class, 7 seats each row in Business class and 8 seats each row in Economy class. The first Airbus also could carry 20 containers of cargo. The first flight of Airbus was achieved on 23rd May 1974 and the first Airbus route was between Paris and London. In the beginning the Airbus could fly only 2970 Km. the later designs increased it to 4825 Km and the seating capacity also increased to 270 seats.
Today, Airbus is considered as one the most popular aircraft among passenger jets. You can easily find a comfortable seat for yourself in an Airbus. There are excellent seats available in Economy class; you can secure one provided you know where they are located in the Airbus. Seats in Economy class behind the partition will have more legroom. These seats will also provide you more privacy because it is only the partition in front of you. Only inconvenience in these seats is that the tray table is positioned in the armrest. The seats near the emergency exit will also have more legroom. But if you have children it will not be suitable for you because children under 15 are not permitted to sit near the exit because of safety reasons. The first few seats in the Economy class will also have more legroom but here again the inconvenience is that you can get only small overhead storage space.
There are plenty of aisle and window seats available in an Airbus. If you like to sit in a window seat do not select your seat near the emergency exit because windows near emergency exit are not centered. There are five bath rooms available in a large Airbus. One bath room is positioned between First class and Economy class, two bath rooms are provided in the middle of Economy class and two other bath rooms are situated at the back.
Airbus also designed various types of planes. A 300-600 is a version of airbus which can be easily converted as either cargo plane or passenger plane. A300-600F is a popular version which is specially designed to carry only cargo and not passengers. To facilitate loading the cargo fast this Airbus is designed to have two doors. The abilities of European manufacturers were proved to the world by their first project of Airbus A300. Today Airbus manufacturing company is the best selling company in the world. A single flight in an Airbus and you will know why are they so world famous.
